Cities for me mean energy, vibe and aliveness….the wonderful rush of unseen forces…intensity and camaraderie…architecture full of arcs, girders, skylights and shadows…sounds of multiple languages…the bright colors of street vendors. City energy forms and nourishes my soul.

Hi Cat,
Love this muse!
I think as a young person, I too thought anonymity was a good thing. As I have grown older/accrued more experience, I believe that what is important to me is privacy and that anonymity is something to be shunned. Anonymous posts on comments sites can be very cruel since the writer doesn’t have to own what is said. Anonymous money in politics is becoming the death knell of our democracy.
People in big cities do feel safer in their anonymity, but I think that is a false safety–it is much easier to harm someone you don’t know!
And yes, you hit the nail on the head! Place does have a personality and it is the maturing person that is able to connect and sense the nuances of that personality.
We are all connected, but it takes a non-anonymous person to realize that!
